Customised solutions for Lyon's signature landmark.
The Musée des Confluences is located in Lyon at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Its modern architecture is reminiscent of a space ship. It is 180 metres long and 90 metres tall. The museum has become one of the city's signature landmarks due to its extraordinary look.
Over 200 bottom-hung and top-hung vents are equipped with more than 320 D+H KA 54 chain drives. Special drive solutions for ventilation and smoke extraction provide 500,000 visitors per year with comfort and safety in an exhibition area covering 22,000 square metres. These solutions were developed in collaboration with Gartner/Permasteelisa.
The 150 million euro construction project was developed by Austrian architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. They are renowned for their deconstructive architecture style.
